Kindergarten Orientation

Good evening kindergarten parents:

We welcome back returning families and we welcome our new families to the Hegarty community.

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves to you and to tell you a little about the Island Park Parent Teacher Association.

The Island Park PTA is made up of an Executive Committee and many sub-committees and chair people.

The Executive Committee for the 2017-2018 school year for FX Hegarty Elementary School and Lincoln Orens Middle School are:

 Jean Leo, President
Ralitsa Sundquist, VP FXH
Adrianne Cardiello, VP LOMS
Domenica DeBellis, VP of Fundraising
Toni Egan, Treasurer
Jackie Curtis, Corresponding Secretary
Erica Straub, Recording Secretary

What does the PTA actually do?  The PTA sponsors many educational and cultural art programs for our children such as, the National Circus Project, Earth Day events, Philharmonic performance, Author Visits and much more.

Your involvement in the PTA is up to you.  You can do as much as chairing or assisting a committee, helping out at functions or just being a member and attending informative meetings.  Sign up sheets for our committees will be available at our first PTA meeting which will be in the beginning of October.

Show your children their education is important by becoming a member of the PTA.  Please consider volunteering some of your time and ideas.  There are evening meetings which are held at either FX  Hegarty,  Lincoln Orens or the new Administration Building which is located across the street from FX Hegarty.  Invest in your child's future by promoting quality education and a true partnership between home and school.

We are happy to announce that in years past we have had 100% participation from parents, faculty and staff of the Island Park School District and hope to accomplish the same for next year.

The cost for membership is $10.00 per member.  We welcome grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors and merchants to join as well.  Any additional contribution is greatly appreciated.   Your membership dues help pay for the special events for our children.

To become a member, please complete a membership envelope and return it with your membership to your child’s teacher or to one of our schools.   We do want to make it very clear that you shouldn’t be afraid to join because you are unable to attend every function, we are a family and as our motto says, “Together We Are Better”.

As your child enters kindergarten they will have the opportunity to make new and lifelong friends and we encourage you to do the same!

It is important to stay connected- from flyers to face book, we have several ways to stay informed.  Please remember to like us on face book and check out our district website every Friday for new information.  Oh and don’t forget to check your child’s back pack on “Flyer Friday” for important information from our school district and from the PTA.

If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for supporting the Island Park PTA and have a safe and fun summer.

Warmest regards,

Jean Leo
PTA President
